Gift Knitting Monday, Dec 24 2007

It doesn’t really feel like Christmas Eve to me–I’m 3,000 miles away from my family and I’m not frantically knitting up a gift to get it wrapped by tomorrow.

This is the first year I haven’t done knitted gifts–I might do a few for friends, but they’ll be given after the holidays are over.

I have, however, started a new project for myself.

My So-Called Scarf

Looking at my list of WIPs on Ravelry is quite a wake-up call. I think this is the year for some Knitting Resolutions. Start finishing all the WIPs and start doing some serious stash-busting.

Flash Your Stash Pt. 1 Tuesday, Nov 13 2007

I’m finally scraping together the courage to join others in the blogosphere and flash my stash.

Turns out? I have a lot of yarn.

That’s just 1/3 (or less!) of my yarn. It all lives in the footlocker–I also have 2 large plastic boxes that I haven’t sorted and photographed for Ravelry yet, and the various bits and pieces floating around my apartment that I am collecting.

On the upside, I found some pretty good yarn I’d forgotten about. Some gorgeous sock yarn and laceweight, a couple of colors where I have enough to make a sweater. So much yarn–maybe 2008 should be my year of stash busting.

Sometimes you wonder Saturday, Nov 10 2007

If it’s really better not to know.

I’m thinking that I might start my next big organizational project this weekend–namely, photographing and documenting my stash on Ravelry.

On the one hand, it would keep me more organized and hopefully lend itself to stash-busting. On the other…that feature that lets you export to excel so you can find out exactly how many miles of yarn you have? I’m not sure I want to know.

Confessions of a Fiber Junkie Pt. 1 Monday, Jan 29 2007

I’ve been MIA for a bit, and I apologize.

The reason for my absence?

I have been eaten by the yarn.

I know we all joke about stash control, but my yarn is eating me alive.

I didn’t realize how much I had until I started cleaning my apartment. I knew I had the foot locker. And the cardboard box. And the plastic bin. Oh, and the box my printer came in…

Then I starte cleaning.

I found piles of yarn, people. PILES. And not only was it yarn, it was tangled yarn. Massive knots, knots that my mother and I have been working on for the past THREE DAYS.

I think I have about 8 boxes full of yarn.

I think maybe I should start destashing.
